Call for Entries: Drama on the Shabbat Table/The Role of the Challah Cover

The Museum of ImaJewnation, partnering with the JCC in St. Louis, is accepting submission of Challah covers for its exhibit entitled Drama on the Shabbat Table/the Role of the challah Cover. This exhibit, inspired by midrashim about challah covers, explores rivalries inherent in the world and how we can mitigate its hurts. The exhibit will take place in the Beit Midrash of the Staenberg Family Complex Arts and Education Building from May 15, 2011 to June 5, 2011. Reception and programming TBA.

Entry Guidelines and Forms:

1. Eligibility: Artists and art enthusiasts are invited to participate. Artwork in all media will be accepted. All works must be prepared for display.

2. Submission of Artwork: All entries must be directed to Rabbi Brad Horwitz and received by May 12, 2011 at the JCC Staenberg Family Complex Arts and Education Building, 2 Millstone Campus Drive, St. Louis, MO 63146. Entries must be submitted with a signed Entry Form and Artist Statement and labeled with the Title and Name of Artist.

3. Insurance: While all efforts will be made to care for and protect the art at the J, artists must take care of their own insurance needs.

4. Sale of Artwork: Artists can offer their art for sale. Attach a tag with name of artist and price on back of artwork. Retail sale price will be split 80% artist/10% JCC/10% TheMuseum of ImaJewation. Art must remain on display until close of the exhibit.

5. Display: All entries must be picked up on Monday, June 6, 2011. Mail returns require prepaid postage. Please be note that due to limited space not all artwork may be displayed.

6. Release: By submitting artwork, the artist agrees to allow reproductions of digital files, photographs and video picture of artwork, artist statement and artist interviews for educational, publicity and archival purposes.

7. Agreement: Artist understands and agrees to the conditions of the Entry Guidelines and presents a completed, signed and dated entry form to that effect. Entry forms can be attained here.
