First Sephardi Jewish Contemporary Art Gallery in North America Opens at Kahal Kadosh Mikveh Israel in Philadelphia.

The Sephardi Jewish world has always maintained a cultural flavor clearly distinct from other categories of Jewish life. And its artwork is no exception. KOLORES GALLERY @ KKMI is proud to display the work of multiple Sephardi Jewish artists and other Sephardi-inspired art.

KOLORES GALLERY @ KKMI is pleased to announce its grand opening at Kahal Kadosh Mikveh Israel, the Spanish-Portuguese synagogue founded in Philadelphia in 1740 and thus boasting its history as the oldest continuous synagogue in the United States. KOLORES GALLERY @ KKMI will officially open on April 21st, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. Gallery Curator & Director Liliana “LIFE” Ines-Friesel E. will give a visual presentation discussing the inspiration of the gallery and introducing the contributing artists, including Daniel Elazar Ashkenazi and Laurence Salzmann.

KOLORES GALLERY @ KKMI will also host an evening opening event in conjunction with the weekend of “First Fridays” gallery walk on Thursday, May 2nd at 6:30 pm. Vino and aperetivos will be served.

KOLORES GALLERY @ KKMI was founded by Liliana “LIFE” Ines-Friesel E., a Jewish professional artist born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has received multiple degrees from prestigious universities, and she is internationally recognized and awarded by numerous organizations and governments. Her works are on display in various collections all over the world. Inspired by services and functions at Kahal Kadosh Mikveh Israel led by Rabbi Albert Gabbai as well as a visit to the Sephardi Jewish communities of the eastern Mediterranean to rediscover her heritage, Liliana created KOLORES GALLERY @ KKMI and serves as Gallery Curator & Director.
