New York, October 14, 2010 – Bagels & Co., located in Manhattan’s Upper West Side, has teamed up with local artist, Andrea Strongwater, to launch a menorah design contest just in time for Hanukkah.  The contest is open to entrants 18 or older who are asked to submit designs for menorahs to be used during Hanukkah.  The three designers who are selected as semi-finalists will then receive up to $200 for materials to complete their designs, which will be on display and the winning design will be selected during a ceremony at Bagels & Co. on December 2nd.  The finalist will receive $200 in cash, in addition to $100 worth of gift certificates to Bagels & Co. UWS.  The second and third place runners up will receive $75 and $50 in gift certificates to Bagels & Co. UWS, respectively.

The menorah must be usable, able to rest on a shelf, and should not exceed 40 inches in height and 76 inches in width.  Submissions should be emailed in 2-D or 3-D jpg file to [email protected].

“We are always thinking about exciting and unique events to hold at the store to bring the community together,” said Ronnie Wachsler, owner of Bagels & Co. UWS.  “I realized that Hanukkah is just around the corner and what better than to host a menorah design contest with the help of local artist and customer, Andrea Strongwater.”

“I am so excited to be a part of this contest and have the opportunity to see what innovative designs result from this competition,” said Andrea Strongwater, New York-based artist and judge of the Bagels & Co. Hanukkah contest.

All submissions must be received by Friday, November 5, 2010 by email to [email protected].  Entrants must be 18 or over and United States residents.  Everyone is welcome to attend the prize presentation at 8:00pm at Bagels & Co. 393 Amsterdam Avenue where refreshments will be served.
