Call for Entries: Golden Ghetto Award

The Venice Center of Jewish Arts (VCJA), is proud to announce the first international art Jewish art competition, the Golden Ghetto Award (GGA).  This will be is the most important competition of its kind in Italy, and is one of the few awards offered for Jewish art around the world.

Deadline: October 17, 2012
Prize: $2,500-$3,000 USD

The artists selected for the final exhibition will receive a certificate and recognition. Artists in all visual mediums, as well as new media and performance art, are welcome to apply.

The competition is divided into two age brackets:

Junior: 18 to 24
Master: the 24 and over

The final exhibition will include 30 to 40 works, entitling each of the artists selected to exhibit at a major gallery of Venice towards the end of November 2012. The category winners will be announced at the awards ceremony to be held during a private gala dinner.

All selected artists will be invited to participate in this event that will participate in the jury, which will be composed of personalities from the art world, including collectors, critics and gallery owners.

The chosen work will be used as an image carrier of the festival next year and then placed the entire campaign to promote the Golden Ghetto Award 2013, that it will be reproduced on posters, flyers, flyer, and on any other medium for the diffusion the event.

Awards

In each category / age group will be selected a winner who will receive a prize $3000 for the masters, and $2,500 for the juniors. Also will be given a further overall premium artist most’ talented group who will receive recognition GGA 2012 and will be awarded an additional prize. The judges may at their discretion to make an additional award that recognizes the most promising artist of the competition.

Submission Requirements

Application must include:

• The curriculum vitae
• The competition’s Application Form
• Artist Statement
• A CD or DVD (no slides or original piece) with pictures and descriptions of the work.
• The portfolio (optional) that the archive will remain available to the Foundation. Will be stored in the archives of VCJA
• The payment receipt.

To participate in this competition artists must submit their art works (no more than 3) to the headquarters of the Foundation (VCJA 1155 cannaregio, 30121 Venice, Italy) or send by e-mail address vcja.info@gmail.com with only one attachment type DOC or PDF. The call for participation ends on October 17 2012.
